A Structured Wiring System begins at the network panel. The network panel is usually located in a basement utility room, laundry room, or garage. Four main feeds(2-cat5e,2-RG6) will run from the service providers outside demarcation box to the network panel. All outlets will stem from the panel and branch out to each room. It is a good ideal to install a four port outlet(2-cat5e,2-RG6) at each wall plate location. This will allow for flexibility and ease of network expansion. For instance, an internet modem can be placed in the network panel and then feed data up to a wireless router in a centralized location. More than one wireless router can be installed if broader wireless coverage is needed. The modem can also be located in a home office and then feed back to a router in the network panel.
